The Boy Wonder Reviews - Green Lantern 2.
Another review from The Boy Wonder (my 14 year old comic reading son). We try and get in to what the future followers of our favourite medium are thinking and what they might look forward to seeing.
Today it is the turn of the New DC Universe Green Lantern issue two.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Green Lantern #2.
Writer - Geoff Johns.
Artist - Doug Mahnke.
Inks - Christian Alamy and Keith Champagne.
Publisher - DC Comics.
The second issue of the main Green Lantern story continues on the good start and seems to have a lot of thought put into it.
The writing and the storyline is very engaging to me. It leads me to do a lot of guessing as to what is going to happen next in the story. The characters seem to be more or less the same as they were before the restart. I do enjoy the increased insight into Sinestro. The writer shows that he still has a disregard for human life but seems ready to soak up the glory from these humans.
The artwork is OK but I prefer the art in some of the other DC titles like The Titans. In some of the panels it is really good but it lacks a consistent quality. Some of the faces seem to be really detailed but the art is sometimes lacking on background stuff. But generally the artwork makes it a good issue.
I am looking forward to issue three and am happy to recommend it to newer readers. It also has a good cliffhanger at the end of the issue.
I prefer this comic to The Green Lantern Corps and am also enjoying Red Lanterns on around the same level as this title.
Story - 5 out of 5.
Artwork - 3 out of 5.
Overall - 4 out of 5.
